Diagram conventions and readings — Volume II

The eight mathematical figure assets in the sections on ternary forms and biquadratic residues are represented by editable TikZ paths, point markers and LaTeX labels. They were read from the retained high-resolution principal 1876 witness. Selected corresponding figures in the separate 1863 impression were consulted for damaged labels and detached marks. The drawings reproduce the observed geometry, point positions, region labels and source-visible major line gaps. Straight strokes, circles, stars and letterforms use modern vector representations; exact historical printing contours are not claimed.

The four-class diamond in article 15 has F double-prime above, F prime at left, F triple-prime at right and F below. The joined principal prime contours were compared with the separate 1863 impression. This supplies a clear reading of the labels without certifying concealed principal contours. The following triangle retains its literal upper label (1/4+3/4 i)m; it is not changed to agree with a reconstructed geometry. The lower of the two small right-hand schemata in article 18 has the fraction 1/2 alone beneath its left corner.

The four lattice figures retain 165 visible lattice positions, including four starred vertices and six circled points. Measured point positions retain the source drawing's irregular spacing. They were not regenerated as an ideal lattice. The detached point beneath the last row is treated as incidental ink; the corresponding selected 1863 figure has no such point. The small bent stroke on an internal edge of the Hexakisoctaeder is likewise treated as incidental ink after selected comparison. These printing-intent interpretations remain qualified; neither mark is asserted to be a mathematical addition by Gauss.

Historical mathematical differences are retained without silent correction. These are source-based modern drawings with qualified readings, not a facsimile or an independent scholarly review.
